If we are humble, nothing will change us, neither praise, nor discouragement.

There is a terrible hunger for love. We all experience that in our lives - the pain, the loneliness. We must have the courage to recognize it. The poor you may have right in your own family. Find them. Love them.

Go out into the world today and love the people you meet. Let your presence light new light in the hearts of people.

The person who gives with a smile is the best giver because God loves a cheerful giver.

A way of satisfying our brethrens' hunger is to share with them whatever we have - to share with them until we ourselves feel what they feel.

Love is not patronizing and charity isn't about pity, it is about love. Charity and love are the same — with charity you give love, so don't just give money but reach out your hand instead.

Fr. Bert White: I think when you focus on money and property ownership, you go the way of the material world, of the Big, of Up and More. It becomes your agenda and then faith can fly out of the window. There has to be faith and a trust in God's reality - a trust that things will work out.

If our bones were not sending whispers of doubt to our hearts, there would be no need for prayer at all.

The more you have, the more you are occupied, the less you give. But the less you have the more free you are. Poverty for us is a freedom. It is not mortification, a penance. It is joyful freedom. There is no television here, no this, no that. But we are perfectly happy.

I prefer you to make mistakes in kindness than work miracles in unkindness.

She encouraged others to smile in suffering as she herself did.

Christ says: I know you through and through – I know everything about you. The very hairs of your head I have numbered. Nothing in your life is unimportant to me, I have followed you through the years, and I have always loved you – even in your wanderings.

I know every one of your problems. I know your need and your worries. And yes, I know all your sins. But I tell you again that I love you – not for what you have or haven’t done – I love you for you, for the beauty and dignity my Father gave you by creating you in his own image.

Love demands sacrifice. But if we love until it hurts, God will give us His peace and joy…. Suffering in itself is nothing; but suffering shared with Christ’s Passion is a wonderful gift.

Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.
