If ever there was a time that the word of God must be preached and followed by intense discipleship, is now.

God's word is not just to be heard and repeated, it is to be breathed, lived, and emulated with each action.

Public and continual preaching of God's word is the ordinary mean and instrument of the salvation of mankind. St Paul calleth it the ministry of reconciliation of man unto God. By preaching of God's word the glory of God is enlarged, faith is nourished, and charity increased. By it the ignorant is instructed, the negligent exhorted and incited, the stubborn rebuked, the weak conscience comforted, and to all those that sin of malicious wickedness the wrath of God is threatened. By preaching also due obedience to Christian princes and magistrates is planted in the hearts of subjects: for obedience proceedeth of conscience; conscience is grounded upon the word of God; the word of God worketh his effect by preaching. So as generally, where preaching wanteth, obedience faileth.

To practice faith is to live day to day.

We need be proclaimers of the word of God, to do that we need to be listen to the word ourselves.

As baptized, we have the responsibility to preach the message of God, keeping the Word of God in our hearts and bringing it into our lives. The message of God present in the Bible must be preached with our lives, bearing witness of faith with life and behavior. If we allow ourselves to always be guided by referring to the Bible, every believer would become a living Bible, with great benefit for evangelization.

In this preaching, which is always respectful and gentle, the first step is personal dialogue, when the other person speaks and shares his or her joys, hopes and concerns for loved ones, or so many other heartfelt needs. Only afterwards is it possible to bring up God’s word, perhaps by reading a Bible verse or relating a story, but always keeping in mind the fundamental message: the personal love of God who became man, who gave himself up for us, who is living and who offers us his salvation and his friendship.
