And I used to say it, there are ships at sea, and this was during the worst crisis, that were loaded up with oil, and the cartel kept the price up, because, again, they were smarter than our leaders. They were smarter than our leaders.

We all know people who have great ideas about how to make millions of dollars, but are too lazy to get off the couch. We all know people who live in the future, and fail to take action today. There are millions of people who want to change the world, but cannot change the conditions of their own lives. And we all know people who lie, cheat, and steal, and yet lie again to themselves, believing they are people of integrity.

No one can match America. We have big hearts — and the courage to do what’s right. But we’re not the world’s policemen. And if we have to take on that role, we need to send a clear message that protection comes at a price. If other countries benefit from our armed forces protecting them, those countries should cover the costs. Period.
