John Bayard Anderson (February 15, 1922 - December 4, 2017) was an American politician and social activist. He served as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from the 16th congressional district of Illinois from 1961 to 1981. In 1980, Anderson was an independent candidate for President of the United States, and received 5.7 million votes, or 6.6%. He was chair of the board of FairVote from 1996 to 2008.
