There was a star danced, and under that was I born.

When a sincere woman begins to dance, the seven heavens, the earth, and all creatures begin to dance.

I think I was born to dance. That’s what my grandmother told me. So it was always in my system.

In the morning of the world,
When earth was nigher heaven than now.

And to be merry best becomes you; for, out of question, you were born in
a merry hour.

No, sure, my lord, my mother cried; but then there
was a star danced, and under that was I born.

It is music and dancing that make me at peace with the world.

In life's morning march, when my bosom was young.

Standing in a new space,
Waving at the sun...
So you probably back in darkness
To where I belong.
Just by being with you
Pictures flow out of my mind...
Have we danced before
Long ago or in another time?

My birthday began with the water-
Birds and the birds of the winged trees flying my name
Above the farms and the white horses
And I rose
In rainy autumn
And walked abroad in a shower of all my days.

I have stretched ropes from bell-tower to bell-tower; garlands from window to window; chains of gold from star to star, and I dance.

Consciousness expresses itself through creation. This world we live in is the dance of the Creator. Dancers come and go in the twinkling of an eye but the dance lives on. On many an occasion when I am dancing, I have felt touched by something sacred. In those moments, I felt my spirit soar and become one with everything that exists. I become the stars and the moon. I become the lover and the beloved. I become the victor and the vanquished. I become the master and the slave. I become the singer and the song. I become the knower and the known. I keep on dancing and then, it is the eternal dance of creation. The Creator and the creation merge into one wholeness of joy. I keep on dancing — until there is only … the dance.

Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody else, these pages must show. To begin my life with the beginning of my life, I record that I was born (as I have been informed and believe) on a Friday, at twelve o’clock at night. It was remarked that the clock began to strike, and I began to cry, simultaneously.

People come to see beauty, and I dance to give it to them.

Bliss it was in that dawn to be alive
But to be young was very heaven.
