Faith then, in its relation to salvation, is that confidence by which we accept it as a free gift from the Saviour, and is the only possible way in which the gift of God could be appropriated.

Faith is rather a freedom, a permission. It is permitted to be so — that the believer in God’s Word may hold on to this Word in everything, in spite of all that contradicts it.

You say that faith is a gift; this is perhaps the most correct thing that can be said about it.

Faith is to say "yes" to God. When man says "yes" to God, God says "yes" to man.

Faith is a living, bold trust in God's grace, so certain of God's favor that it would risk death a thousand times trusting in it. Such confidence and knowledge of God's grace makes you happy, joyful and bold in your relationship to God and all creatures. The Holy Spirit makes this happen through faith. Because of it, you freely, willingly and joyfully do good to everyone, serve everyone, suffer all kinds of things, love and praise the God who has shown you such grace.

Faith in God is an opening up, a letting go, a deep trust, a free act of love.

While the sinner cannot save himself, he still has something to do to secure salvation. “him that cometh to Me,” says Christ, “I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37. But we must come to him; and when we repent of our sins, we must believe that he accepts and pardons us. Faith is the gift of God, but the power to exercise it is ours. Faith is the hand by which the soul takes hold upon the divine offers of grace and mercy.

Faith is believing God is who He says He is, and that He will do what He said He would do.

The gifts of faith and freedom allow me and others to learn more about this child Jesus through the study of Bible and the teaching of the Church. With the presence of God's Spirit, faith and learning lead to love and the desire to imitate the self-sacrificing love of Jesus for all humanity.

According to your faith be it unto you” (Matthew 9:29).

Faith is not only, or above all, information; faith is self-giving; it is communion with Jesus who gives himself. Let us ask the Lord for the grace to cure our blindness. Let us ask him to give us the truth, the only one that makes us truly free, and, at the same time, let us ask for the strength to make it concrete in our lives, following him on the path that leads to Jerusalem, certain that glory is already in the cross.

Faith brings peace. Faith brings joy.

Faith in one’s own destiny was among the most valuable of the gifts which the gods could bestow upon a man,

Paul saith, 'Not of works, lest any man should boast.' Now, faith excludes all boasting. The hand which receives charity does not say, 'I am to be thanked for accepting the gift'; that would be absurd. When the hand conveys bread to the mouth it does not say to the body, 'Thank me; for I feed you.' It is a very simple thing that the hand does though a very necessary thing; and it never arrogates glory to itself for what it does. So God has selected faith to receive the unspeakable gift of His grace, because it cannot take to itself any credit, but must adore the gracious God who is the giver of all good.
