You will not be able to enjoy a good night's sleep unless you've worked hard during the day

At night numbers must sleep; it is their duty, just as it is their duty to work in the daytime. Not sleeping at night is a criminal offense.

I begin my work at about nine or ten o'clock in the evening and continue until four or five in the morning. Night is a more quiet time to work. It aids thought.

Front-load your decision-making.

Write, build, lift, read, or do whatever your lever-moving tasks are first thing in the morning.

Because I can almost guarantee you won't have the energy, clarity, or discipline to do them (well) at night.

You can't sleep until noon with the proper élan unless you have some legitimate reason for staying up until three (parties don't count).

Work hard, sleep less

Ye rigid Plowmen! Bear in mind Your labor is for future hours.
Advance! spare not! nor look behind! Plow deep and straight with all your powers!

Quiet night that brings Rest to the labourer, is the outlaw's day, In which he rises early to do wrong, And when his work is ended, dares not sleep.

Those times when you get up early and you work hard. Those times you stay up late and you work hard. Those times when you don’t feel like working. You’re too tired. You don’t want to push yourself, but you do it anyway. That is actually the dream.

Make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about! ROMANS 13:11 – 14 MSG

The time to labor is while it is day.

Stop sleeping, Get to work! You will have much time to sleep when you die.

Think in the morning. Act in the noon. Eat in the evening. Sleep in the night.

Practice no sloth, so that the duty and good work, which it is necessary for thee to do, may not remain undone. (p. 59)
