Those who break the rules ethically are those who have mastered them first and disciplined themselves to understand the necessity of those rules, and break them in keeping with the spirit rather than the letter of the law.

As in any discipline, to become good you need first to learn the rules. To become great, you need to break them.

Rules are there for a reason. You are only allowed to break them if you are a master. If
you’re not a master, don’t confuse your ignorance with creativity or style.
