Following the resignation of Amber Rudd, she gained the additional position as the Minister for Women and Equalities in September 2019. Truss was the Member of Parliament (MP) for South West Norfolk from 2010 to the 2024 general election, when she was defeated. Truss was Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from 2014 to 2016, Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor from 2016 to 2017 and Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2017 to 2019.
