Agency is built in a really specific way.

First, you do one small thing that "shouldn't" have worked. You ask for the discount and you get it. You email the famous person and they reply. You fix the thing the "experts" said was unfixable. And a little crack appears in your model of the world.

Then, the crack widens. You start collecting evidence. "huh, that worked too." Each data point is a brick removed from the wall of learned helplessness.

Now, you start expecting leverage, your default assumption flips. Instead of "probably can't" your baseline becomes "let me find the angle." You've rewired the prior.

And it compounds socially: high-agency people find each other. When they cluster, the ambient sense of what's possible just inflates. You're around people who casually do impossible things and suddenly your own impossible things look reasonable.

Environment is destiny. Put a medium-agency person in a high-agency room and watch them transform in 6 months.

Agency is contagious.
