About Edward VIII

Edward VIII, King of Great Britain, Ireland, the British Dominions beyond the Seas, and Emperor of India (Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David -- Dates: June 23, 1894 to May 28, 1972). Edward was King from the death of his father, George V (1910–36), on January 20, 1936 until his abdication on December 11, 1936 to marry Wallis Simpson. After he abdicated, the former King became known as The Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor. With a reign of 326 days, Edward was one of the shortest-reigning British monarchs in history.
