I maintain that rather than the sin of pride, the transhuman advocates—much like the transgender advocates—are more likely suffering from the effects of the sin of envy. They envy those—including the God of creation—who have the power to create life and live forever on this earth. But faithful Christians know that such a quest for power like this is more demonic than divine.

Anne Hendershott (née Barnhardt; born July 12, 1949, Waterbury, Connecticut) is an American sociologist and author known for her conservative Christian writings on Catholic issues in US politics. She is the author of several books, including The Politics of Deviance, The Politics of Abortion, and Status Envy: The Politics of Catholic Higher Education. She has taught at the University of San Diego and at The King's College in New York City. She is currently a professor of psychology, Sociology, and Social Work at Franciscan University (Steubenville, Ohio).
