British politician (1884-1986)
Emanuel 'Manny' Shinwell, Baron Shinwell (October 18 1884 Spitalfields - 8 May 1986) was an English Labour politician who served as the MP for Linlithgowshire from 1922 to 1924 and from 1928 to 1931, MP for Seaham Harbour from 1935 to 1950 and MP for Easington from 1950 to 1970, when he was elevated to the peerage. Shinwell held the posts of Minister of Fuel and Power from 1945 to 1947, Secretary of State for War from 1947 to 1950 , and as a Minister of Defence from 1950 to 1951.
