French-British tycoon and politician (1933–1997)
Sir James Michael Goldsmith (26 February 1933 – 18 July 1997) was an Anglo-French billionaire financier and tycoon. Towards the end of his life, he became politically active and founded the Referendum Party, effectively a campaign advocating Britain ending its membership of the European Union.
