American aerospace entrepreneur
Matthew "Matt" Gialich is an American aerospace entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of AstroForge, an asteroid mining startup he launched on January 10, 2022 with Jose Acain and went on to graduate from Y Combinator's W22 batch. AstroForge is developing low-cost spacecraft and refining technology to extract platinum group metals from near-Earth asteroids and become the first commercially viable asteroid mining company. Before AstroForge, Gialich was Director of Vehicle Software at Bird, where he met co-founder Jose Acain (who came from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory). Earlier in his career he worked at Virgin Galactic and co-founded Ex Scientia Technologies. He studied at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
