American translator and scholar of Romance languages (1892-1950)
Samuel Putnam (1892–1950) was a scholar and translator of Romance languages. His most famous translation was Don Quixote in 1949. He wrote a memoir of the American expatriate community — Paris Was Our Mistress — which was published in 1947
