المطلب أنفس وأعز من أن يدرك بالمنى أو ينال بالهوينا - Al-Ghazali

"وأما عمل القلب فالغاية القصوى عمارته بالأخلاق المحمودة والعقائد المشروعة ولن يتصف بها ما لم ينظف عن نقائضها من العقائد الفاسدة والرذائل الممقوتة فتطهيره أحد الشطرين وهو الشطر الأول الذي هو شرط في الثاني فكان الطهور شطر الإيمان بهذا المعنى وكذلك تطهير الجوارح عن المناهي أحد الشطرين وهو الشطر الأول الذي هو شرط في الثاني فتطهيره أحد الشطرين وهو الشطر الأول وعمارتها بالطاعات الشطر الثاني فهذه مقامات الإيمان "

placing the Ka’ba between my brows, the Bridgeover-Hell beneath my feet, Paradise to my right and Hell to my left, and the Angel of Death behind me, thinking all the while that this is my final Prayer. Then I stand between hope and fear.

"Another dangerous property of worldly things is that they at first appear as mere trifles, but each of these so-called "trifles" branches out into countless ramifications until they swallow up the whole of a man's time and energy. Jesus (on whom be peace!) said, "The lover of the world is like a man drinking sea-water; the more he drinks, the more thirsty he gets, till at last he perishes with thirst unquenched.
