She knows from her early experiences about the hardships that tennis players from India have to endure in order to become a successful professional. She had a long cherished vision for Tennis in India. The Vision - "To pave a way for Indian Tennis by training and promoting urban and rural talent and to enable our players to make a significant mark in the world of international tennis."

We are proud of her achievement. In India there are not many other young female role models like her.

It appeared as if the whole nation stood up to greet me in Ahmedabad on my taking the 432nd wicket. The country was proud and that made me really happy...This was the first time in my life I realized what it is to be the number 1 in the world. It is a heady feeling almost out of the world.

She was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award for her contribution to tennis on the eve [25 January 2006] of the Republic Day.

I want to show that I deserve to be at the top. I want to be the best player that I can be, that I can be a valuable member of the team after being a mother.

Every player’s dream is to win laurels for her country or club.

Whether it is tennis or any other sport, the situation for women now is far better than it was 10 years ago when I had started playing. Now, people support and promote their daughters to play and take up sports as their career. It wasn't the case during my time. I am glad that things are looking better for girls. Taking a step in this direction, I too have opened my training academy in Hyderabad. Sport for girls in India is in great shape now.

Tennis is such a fantastic sport for everyone to be involved in and it is my passion.We have young players who are doing well and so they need to focus on the rich techniques and realise how important that is at this stage,said the mother of one.
