Writing is an act of ego, and you might as well admit it. Use its energy to keep yourself going.

You don’t need to find the thing

You just need to find the thing that leads to the thing that leads to the other things

And then through that you realize that you can build a life out of enjoying a bunch of things without ending up finding the thing at all
