I can well imagine some circles of smart society, some groups of wealthy financiers, and the elements in this country which are attracted by the idea of a Government strong enough to keep the working classes in order; people who hate democracy and freedom, I can well imagine such people accommodating themselves fairly easy to Nazi domination. But the Trade Unionists of Britain, the intellectuals of Socialism and Radicalism, they could no more bear it than the ordinary British Tory. It would be intolerable.

The absolute stoneheaded rednecks keep on with the "Nazism = Communism" because that's the way they view ALL authoritarianism. However, most of these folks know how to hold a rifle and will be recruited to our side FAST when general hell breaks its tissue-paper bonds. But other than that, those who have the most to fear from us and who like to make their name-calling campaigns count, claim that we are the last resort of entrenched Capitalism. And if too many White workers believe that, we've got problems. Like the "Six Million" canard, it stems from the National Socialist experience in Germany. The fact is that most of the German people were healthy in mind and spirit, and were totally in favor of Hitler and his programs. This included a high proportion of the upper classes, industrialists, etc. They were at least as interested in Germany as in their own profits and therefore, in Hitler's view, still were part of the nation. They were not exploiters or usurers but merely successful businessmen who got where they were honestly. But to a rabble-rouser or a Red, these too are "Capitalists". It never occurs to the masses of people that the REAL "Ugly Capitalist" is our declared Enemy. The situations in Germany fifty years ago and in the United States today are vastly different regarding the composition of the ruling classes. It is a safe generalization to state that the ruling class in America has SOLD OUT and has got to go... all the way. That much at least the White workers are fast becoming aware of. Hell, things were so comparatively healthy in Weimar Germany, as opposed to what they are here, that Hitler was fully able to work within the framework of that system and WIN! No way in hell we can do that here today!! We cannot allow the White worker to believe that we are the friend of the System! The best and only way to combat and reverse this is to preach revolution, revolution, and more revolution! Smash the System!! We must develop and bring into focus our SOCIALIST programs for a new society. This means a BREAK with Right-Wingism. If we fail in this, we could lose.

The Labor Party has no objection whatever to the Germans practicing nazi-ism in Germany; that is their concern. We do not engage in any philisophic discussions with them about that system so long as they make no endeavour to foist it by force upon people outside their country. We stand for self-government. In the same way, we offer no opinions regarding the justification or non-justification of bolshevism in Russia; that is the concern of the Russian people. Their form of government is their own affair, just as our form of government is our affair. The Labor Party believes in the right of peoples to govern themselves, and to enjoy a way of life which they themselves decide upon. We concede that right to Russia. We concede that right to Germany, and it is because we are claiming it for ourselves, and Germany denies it to us, that we are at war with Germany.

I'm in opposition against to both the government and the opposition.

The totalitarian State does not tolerate any ‘second government,’ any challenge to the power of the all-wise dictator. [As the Nazi party has stated] ‘Within the constitution of the Third Reich any position independent of the will of the Fuehrer no longer exists. The principle of separation of power is a thing of the past. Only the Party has a privileged position.’

I would fight to change the policy before the General Election. If I failed then I wouldn't accept office in a Labour Government.

I am against class government, whether it is high or low. You have one party today that puts class first; there is another that puts party first, and there is not a pin to choose between them. Let us put the country first. Reaction is as dangerous as revolution because it leads to revolution.

We are already in Opposition, dear reader. Sorry to say. We are in Opposition against our own government, and have been for some time. It is sad and exhausting and dreadfully demoralising that it should have come to this, but here we are.

How thoroughly have you studied compulsory insurance in Germany? And why do you believe that it will work here otherwise than it worked there? I would really like to know. My own opinions haven’t ripened yet. So far, I am opposed to so-called ‘Social Security’ principally because I am opposed to tyranny; I think it is tyranny to take my money, money earned by my labor, and to spend it for me—in any way whatever—instead of allowing me to send it for myself. But so far as I have learned, and thought, about this use of tyranny in Germany since Bismarck established it, I’m inclined to believe that it can’t work otherwise than as disastrously as it worked there.

The whole spirit and outlook of the [SDP] party, its leaders and its members must be profoundly opposed to Thatcherism. It could not go along with the fatalism of the Government's acceptance of massive unemployment.
