I want the Democratic Party to stand up for principles which we believe in, which is fairness, equity, honesty, and being trustworthy, and doing what is right for all the people the best we know how.

In almost every single way, George and I share the same values. And if we differ on some issues, it's very, very minor.

Whatever their differences, Democratic candidates must agree to broad principles related to key issues, for example, immigration, health care, and the growing wealth gap. A general consensus would leave plenty of room for healthy debates about implementation, but failure to emphasize shared ideals in relationship to two or three major questions will blunt Democrats’ offensive against a candidate whose campaign is based on slander and fear.

And Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values, like you work hard for what you want in life. That your word is your bond; that you do what you say you're going to do. That you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don't know them and even if you don't agree with them.

House Democrats will always put American values over autocracy, benevolence over bigotry, the Constitution over the cult, democracy over demagogues, economic opportunity over extremism, freedom over fascism, governing over gaslighting, hopefulness over hatred, inclusion over isolation, justice over judicial overreach, knowledge over kangaroo courts, liberty over limitation, maturity over Mar-a-Lago, normalcy over negativity, opportunity over obstruction, people over politics, quality of life issues over Q-anon, reason over racism, substance over slander, triumph over tyranny, understanding over ugliness, voting rights over voter suppression, working families over the well-connected, xenial over xenophobia, yes we can over you can't do it, and and zealous representation over zero sum confrontation. -- And we will always do the right thing by the American people, so let us not grow weary of doing good, for the American people will reap the benefit of the harvest if we do not give up.

The values of science and the values of democracy are concordant, in many cases indistinguishable.

As a liberal democracy, we’re also committed to promoting universal values like human rights, gender equality and the rule of law. We’ve always believed in these values, it’s what makes us who we are.

I think my basic viewpoint is that everything the left and right say about each other is true. And the reason it's true is because they have so much in common.
