Exultation is the going
Of an inland soul to sea
Past the houses, past the headlands
Into deep eternity!
Bred as we, among the mountains
Can the sailor understand
The divine intoxication

I SEE thee better in the dark,

The love of thee a prism be

I see thee better for the years

What need of day to those whose dark
Hath so surpassing sun,

At the meridian?
