We are going to court; no 13 people are going anywhere to go and contest. EC has no power to elect the people they want to contest for this year. There were not there to tell Ghanaians what to do; they were there to just do their work and they have failed woefully to do that work.

When I sought to become the general secretary, I received calls from prominent figures, including family members, telling me that position wasn’t suitable for a woman. Some people discouraged me saying I would not succeed, especially against male contestants. But I persevered, ignoring their advice, and ultimately succeeded.

The only position reserved for women is the women’s organizer, and even with that, they are often relegated to menial tasks. It is extremely difficult for women to rise in politics.
