My main goal when I started my collection – and I didn’t think beyond this actually – was that I wanted to dress rock stars and the people that go to rock concerts.

As a performer, I’ve always been very inspired by Andy Warhol and the Studio 54 era– the wardrobe, the glamour, the free-spirited underground club world.

I’ve always been a fashion girl. I believe I fell in love with clothes and art as a child. My mum tells that I when I was a child, she would dress me in all sorts of ways; sometimes like a boy but always outstanding. When I got older, I fell in love with art. I enjoyed drawing; I would literally draw everyone at home, from my siblings to my mum

Since I was a little girl, I've had this passion for fashion and for what makes women look beautiful.

But, as a kid I always embraced fashion, I was always very outspoken about what I wanted to wear, and I’ve always liked films. So it’s just accepting yourself and saying this is who I am, this whom I chose to be.

I've always been intriqued by form.

I was really interested in being a model when I was a little girl. I loved all the pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. I loved watching old movies -- I was really into Bettie Page, she was a big role model to me. I've always looked up to models like Elaine Irwin and Stephanie Seymour. I've always loved modeling.

being a rock star is the intersection of who you are and who you want to be.

I've always been a fan of the [Rocky] films, even the fifth, that I know some people didn't care for, I've always enjoyed them. I thought they were great. It really just got into the underdog story and how if you have your mind in the right direction, and your heart is full of the right kind of stuff, you'll succeed and you'll triumph over adversity, over really anything.

I try to put as much of their personality into the kind of clothes that they wear and how they wear their hair or their make-up and so on and so forth

I didn't, I thought, really like her, for really she wasn't the sort of girl to whom I was usually attracted. I'd always thought that the girls who appealed to me most were the rather energetic, rather vigorous, rather healthy girls I saw on the tennis courts or on the beach. The girls who swam well, and whose skins were beautifully tanned, and who had broad shoulders. The girls who looked well in white. The girls with clear, straightforward eyes. The girls who laughed a great deal. I'd always thought I preferred a girl like that, and it was only an unfortunate set of circumstances which prevented me from meeting one.
