The kingdom of heaven consists of real, confident, and loving union with God, in the cleaving of our souls to Him and their rest in Him. We have to assert this fact and convince ourselves of it in the face of everything which threatens to trouble, oppress, or overwhelm us.

God has no fairy wand to tap the pig and turn it into a swan.

People ignore this. And those who believe in sinners burning in hell are, perhaps, not so much concerned with going to heaven as with being sure that sinners-–others-–roast forever in the flames.

This is the kingdom of God, the kingdom of danger and of risk, of eternal beginning and eternal becoming, of opened spirit and of deep realization, the kingdom of holy insecurity.

She's forgotten too, that woman who sprang from filth, from vermin, from treachery and infidelity.

The 'Kingdom of Heaven' is a condition of the heart — not something that comes 'upon the earth' or 'after death'.

The spiritual nature of woman is as little considered as the principles of her historical development. Not only is violence being done to the spirit by a biological misinterpretation and by today's economic trends, but also by the materialistic and fundamental point of view of opposing groups.
