Being a character actor, I can go on until I'm 70 or 80; I'm not bound to the way I look.

I will stop acting when I am 97. That’s my cut off. I don’t dream about producing or directing or anything else… acting is my passion. Even [if] it means going months without work, what is meant to be always comes around

There is no retirement in acting. I know that veterans like Idowu Phillips (Iya Rainbow), Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), Toyin Afolayan (Lola Idije) and Fausat Balogun (Madam Saje) are still acting. As long as one has the energy and one is healthy, one can continue acting as long as one pleases. I pray for longevity, so I can act till a ripe old age.

I'm a better actor now than I ever was, I wish I could have hurried that up, but there's no way. Anyway, I always wanted to be around for a long time. Like a European actor, I hope I live a long time and that I'm acting until I finish.

It's true that old actors don't die, their parts get smaller. You're less likely to get the part, many parts, if you're playing people your age as opposed to people who are younger. There are fewer parts around.

I have been both overpraised and underpraised. I assume by the time I finish writing — and I plan to go on writing until I'm 90 or gaga — it will all equal itself out... I would like to believe that I have a very long career ahead of me but I feel like that character is one character that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It was such an impactful role in so many ways. She went through so much. Anything that you can think of, she went through and that opened my eyes personally to some of the things that people out there go through. I’ll always be grateful for that opportunity and that journey. I grew a lot as a person, it was really a privilege to play such a character
