There have been people who have tried to exploit me. You get chancers out there who just want to make a quick buck, but as long as you tune into them and who they are … The best thing I've learned is, if you're going out, never go out alone - you leave yourself vulnerable. If you've got someone else there you trust, they can say, be wary of that person. I probably used to be too trusting of people.

People have disappointed me and deceived me and let me down.

Life is full of disappointments. And by "disappointments" I mean "people."

The struggle comes when you're displaced, when someone is in an industry where they worry about people taking advantage and they don't know what to do with that. I've been lucky not having to worry about that aspect of it as well.

Unfortunately, there are people in the world who sense your need for love and take advantage of it to gain medicine for their own pain and to get their wants and needs met.

Rejection – but that is part of life. It toughens you up! I have applied for jobs that I did not get, done auditions for film/TV/stage roles that I did not get, and so on. You cannot always get what you want.

There are a lot of people who try to stop you for different reasons – because they don’t believe in you, or because you’re too young to be taken seriously, or because you’re a woman. It has happened to me several times, and I didn’t think it was possible until I entered this world.

We have all, at one time or another, been used, or have experienced someone being unfair to us.

She will receive no, after no, after no, after no. She will feel disappointed and she will feel like everybody has let her down

As an actor, you deal with so much rejection and humiliation. When the good things come around, you tend not to trust your instincts.

– I understand the world can be cruel place and there are people out there counting on naive kids like you to take advantage of. Don't just think because it's video games people can't get hurt.

Assume the best.

Assume people will fulfill their promises.

That they will hold up their side of the bargain.

That they will also want a win/win outcome.

Don’t hedge your bets. Don’t cover your ass. Don’t use a lawyer. Leave yourself open to being taken advantage of.

99% of the time you will be amazed at what trust and vulnerability unlocks.

1% of the time you’ll be taken advantage of.

So worth it.

Those who strive are often watched by others who will take advantage of their defeat to benefit themselves.

I have people approaching me and telling me how badly I acted in a movie because they did not like the role I played whiles some love my acting and even encourage me to do better.
