There is so great a need for civility and mutual respect among those of differing beliefs and philosophies. We must not be partisans of any doctrine of ethnic superiority. We live in a world of diversity. We can and must be respectful toward those with whose teachings we may not agree. We must be willing to defend the rights of others who may become the victims of bigotry.

"Let us respect each other and avoid causing unnecessary hurt to those with beliefs and faiths different from ours." (Pacific Magazine).

People should learn to disagree to agree. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing and arguing out things to get the best results.

In order to survive in this interconnected global village we must learn and learn very quickly to respect others who are different from us and, ultimately, to grant to others the autonomy we demand for ourselves. In short, celebrate difference and banish hatred.

Learn to disagree without being disagreeable.

We must work harder to build mutual respect, an attitude of tolerance, with forbearance one for another.

We need not agree on everything, but we must find a way to handle our differences so that they do not become divisive.

People should respect other people.

Out of difference can come the reinforcement of two important values. One is tolerance and the other is awareness that people who disagree over the things they hold dear really can live together in love and respect.

Ultimately, we can only truly respect other people's point of view if we first allow them to express it.

Just be respectful and when people have opinions that are better than yours, acknowledge them.
