The mob currently in power are determined to crash us out of the EU on October 31 and will sacrifice everything at the altar of new trade deals. Food safety standards, consumer protections, animal welfare standards will all be ditched if it means securing a trade deal with the US. This will leave our farmers concerned not so much with tackling our climate emergency but with survival against an onslaught from cheap imports.

It's surprising that there would appear to be those in this House who know more about making cars than those who make cars, more about building planes than those who build planes, more about engineering than the engineers and that the simple truth is the overwhelming and unmistakable voice of the world of work, industry and all the employers organisations and the trade unions is that a No Deal Brexit would have catastrophic consequences with tens of thousands of workers losing their jobs, making our country a poorer country in every sense of the word for years to come.

What we do know is that if we do not leave the EU it will mark the end of democracy in the UK.

Boris Johnson's pursuit of a no-deal Brexit will be a disaster for the whole country. He is putting at risk Scottish jobs in manufacturing, food processing and service industries. His intention to suspend Parliament shows he is also a threat to our democracy. The best way to defeat Johnson is sticking together, electing a Labour government and allowing it to get on with sorting the Tory Brexit nightmare and introducing policies that will see transformative investment in Scotland's people, communities and public services. Scottish independence is not the answer to Johnson. Independence will only further prolong and intensify austerity and create more instability and chaos.
