Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (died 8 December 1986) was a Tamil-speaking teacher and Sufi mystic associated with the Qadiriyyah order from the island of Sri Lanka who first came to the United States in October 1971 and established the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship of North America in Philadelphia. Bawa Muhaiyaddeen authored over twenty-five books, although he himself did not read or write. These books were created from transcriptions of audio and video recordings of his discourses and songs, taken in the United States, totaling about 10,000 hours.
