Omowumi Dada

Do not ever forget what you are made of, life would be hard but you have to find inner strength to go on. Everything you need to make it in life is in you and God’s hands; it’s been deposited by God. It’s okay to be you but know one thing that you are destined to be great and you will be great and nothing anybody will do or say that will drag you back and I will just whisper to her that, Omowunmi Dada just know that you are a star and you are going to change the world.

I pray that Nollywood gets better and that we have more international collaborations. I hope that actors become better paid and better appreciated. I also pray that we would have better scripts.

I remember an experience. Sometime in 2008, when we were doing seasons of Wole Soyinka at Terra Culture and I played Iya Loja directed by Segun Adefila and the guy who was to play Eleshin Oba forgot his lines and it now looked liked it was me that forgot my lines . So, the onus was on me as Iya Loja to do something and I started thinking. An idea came into my head and I said Eleshin Oba, if you come back to the world, you must never do this (to ba tun aye wa, o o gbodo se ru e mo) and I continued. Somehow, that line just made him remember his own line and brought back...."

.... I love Genevieve and how she has strategically positioned herself. She also lives a quiet and modest life. I love Mo Abudu, how she comes from the media and has changed the narrative for arts and film. How she is tenacious in pushing the African narrative to the world.

She is all-encompassing, very accommodating. She has this welcoming aura when you see her, you want to greet her and strike a conversation with her. She is a wonderful person and every time I get to act with her, I get to learn many things from her. She is so good, so versatile."

I am hungry for more. I am not satisfied but I am fulfilled.

I stand strongly for professionalism, quality, discipline, integrity and consistency because at every particular time; keep working as nobody wants to work with a lazy actor.

I am still the real Omowunmi dada, I don’t know how to form. I am just a simple girl doing what she loves to do and I am so grateful that the world accepts what I am doing and appreciate my crafts so fame has not really taken anything away, I am still me so it is a thing of honour. I really don’t see myself as a celebrity,....

There are lots of dream roles but the most important for me at the moment is getting an action role call in a Hollywood movie.

Seeing so many veterans and acclaimed acts on the same set was surreal for me. It was a very amazing experience. My character didn’t have lines in the film which made it more challenging. I am glad I was able to have the presence to evoke the emotions expected of the bride.

....I was so happy about what I did for myself with the role I played. For me as a brand, I don’t run away from challenges and hard work.

I’m very passionate about the kind of scripts that I take on, the kind of stories that I’m part of. I turn down a lot of scripts but the truth is when you don’t know where you are going to, everywhere will look like the way, but when you know where you are going to, from the beginning of your career, you channel your path and you are very mindful about it. Sometimes, it looks like, ‘what are you doing’, but if you have a bigger picture in mind, you will definitely get there. Nothing good comes easy.

The major things that drive me are passion, love for humanity and wanting to always put smiles on the faces of people. Love for God also keeps me going and the fact that I know that no matter what happens, God got my back. No matter what happens everything would end in joy. Also the big picture keeps me going and the quest to see things around me becoming better."

Linda represents the strength of every woman. Linda represents every first born girl. Linda represents that woman that is ever willing to do anything to support her family and to make sure that her family gets the best in life or the better life than they have right now. Linda represents that woman that is very determined, dogged, very hard working, very resilient and goal oriented. In the true sense of it, Linda represents that girl looking for greener pastures and has just seen how crucial and how difficult the society is.......

I can’t rule that out of my life anyway because that is also part of the build up for me. You can’t become a star in a day; I enjoy the process as it makes me more professional and diligent as this will further motivate me to always give my best at every point in time.
