Personally, I feel fashion is how you feel and how you want to be addressed. I love fashion and people know that they can’t catch me not getting it right. Fashion is not a display of wealth, it’s just another way to express how you feel and how you want people to see you. One fashion accessory I love so much is shoes.

Fashion is your way of life. It is your statement. It is the way you feel like expressing yourself in all ramifications of life. For me, fashion is not just about dressing or makeup or jewelleries. It is about the way you speak, the way you carry yourself in public and the way you comport yourself among others. I don’t wear heavy makeup nor go crazy about clothes. I try to be as simple as possible. I also love to be very smart in appearance, may be because of my background as a former athlete.

Fashion means being comfortable; it is the way you express yourself.

Fashion is art. It is something that we use to express ourselves as individuals.

Well, fashion is a way to escape and to express your personality and to have fun. I have always liked the idea of fashion and creating personalities with fashion. Let it be over the top or understated or effortless or chic. Or, you know, Erika Jayne with 100 crystals on her face. That’s always been a theme of my life. I’ve always enjoyed costume. I think it's a great part of life, honestly. It's really self-expression.

In regards to fashion, according to me, everyone should have their own style. One should take fashion to mean comfort such that if any one sees them they can say that the person has taste and is well versed with fashion. One can even wear slippers and pull off a style.Therefore, fashion should be one’s own. Another thing is that fashion is all about knowing yourself, as in your body shape and colour.

Fashion means simplicity to me and once you are comfortable in your own skin, you can get away with so many things. I love to wear what suits me. I hate to reveal my body, so you won’t find me wearing see-through clothes- I’m not just used to that.

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

Fashion is a way of not having to decide who you are. Style is deciding who you are and being able to perpetuate it.

To me, fashion is like a mirror... It's a reflection of the times. And if it doesn't reflect the times, it's not fashion. Because people aren't gonna be wearing it.

Age doesn’t matter. But what does fashion say about you? It speaks to the way you feel. The way you look tells people how you are feeling. If you’re a woman and you’re not into fashion, I say to you, wake up – it’s the best experience ever

as a young girl I always enjoyed the feel and look of clothing. Growing up in Soweto, you socialised at weddings and church – those were times when you could shine and put on your best outfit and I enjoyed that. I couldn’t sew to save my life at school, but when playing with dolls with my siblings and cousins, I had the fashion sense, in terms of knowing what looked good on the dolls. And the passion grew from there. So going into the fashion industry was an easy transition for me, because I felt I could make a difference by investing in the growth of industries that define who we are as a nation. The fashion and arts industry is important in that regard, as well as the way it employs thousands of people, such as fabric makers, seamstresses and beaders”.

Dress is important. It's part of being human. It might as well be a thing of beauty, something you take real pleasure in doing. And maybe in the process, give other people pleasure. Though that's secondary.

Fashion is a universal language.
