Sunil Dutt (June 6, 1925 – May 25, 2005), born Balraj Dutt, was not only an iconic Indian Hindi films actor, who also acted in many Punjabi films, but was also an honest and highly esteemed politician who promoted secularism. As an actor, producer, and director he was involved in 102 films. As a politician, after he joined the Indian National Congress party, he had the unique distinction of getting elected to the Parliament of India for five terms from the Mumbai North West constituency. He was the cabinet minister for Youth Affairs and Sports in the Manmohan Singh government (2004 – 2005). He was also Sheriff of Bombay In 1968, he was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
