I’ve been blessed to work with many dynamic people throughout my career, who have taught me so much. I also have had the opportunity to mentor many young women who have gone on to do great things — I love to follow their careers.

It’s been a tremendous honour to work with such strong young women because they continue to teach and push me in various ways.

The friends of my friends are my friends.

At every stage of my career, I sought out the most influential people around me and asked for their help and guidance.

I also formed life-long friendships with colleagues at the University of Washington, which nurtured the research creativity of the team.

Staying true to my beliefs, I’ve found that people who share my passion draw closer, becoming my fans.

The people who work for you should constantly challenge you,

I have met some very helpful people who have mentored me over the years. I have friends who are editors, chefs, writers, and producers; they have made time for me and I am forever grateful.

I’ve known that there have been a kind of select group of people, amazing die-hard supporters, even through some of the more, shall we say, odd films. These people, bless them, have stuck with me the whole length of the road. To say that you appreciate it is not nearly enough. It’s part of the essence, or fuel, of what keeps you going.<p>These people are my boss; they’re the ones who keep me employed. A couple of times, they could have said, Let’s abandon him. And they haven’t. You don’t want to let them down.

I get that a lot because I've hung around with a lot of artists and I'm very close to a lot of them. I'm very involved in their work; I think a lot of my ideas have grown out of it, and that there's been some give and take.

They support me and they are encouraging me to move forward and to continue my campaign for girls' education.
