Friendship happens on the way to something else.

If you “try to meet new people” it feels weird and forced. The more you aim for friendship, the more it eludes you.

But if you aim to learn or achieve something with others, friendship happens naturally during the shared pursuit.

People frequently get what they deserve, but it doesn't feel like it because the unspoken rule is that you only deserve it if you have
(1) the courage to attempt it,
(2) the guts to ask for it, and
(3) the willingness try again when it doesn't work out the first time.

People usually judge you based on where you are at currently, not what you could become eventually. Don't let one comment stop you from trying. File it away or use it as fuel. Focus on getting better. Someone else's analysis of your current position doesn't tell you anything about your current potential.
