You can't have everything you want in one woman.

You really can’t choose the people you’re going to like.

You can't choose your children.

Once a woman has given you her heart you can never get rid of the rest of her.

I also know you cannot pick and choose. Change is a medicine bundle. You must refuse it altogether, or take the whole thing.

What if sometimes there is no choice about what to love? What if the temple comes to Mohammed? What if you just love? without deciding? You just do: you see her and in that instant are lost to sober account-keeping and cannot choose but to love?

In life, you can never choose for God; you can’t say that this is what I am going to be.
