In acting, one needs to interpret his or her roles very very well. If you also want your work to make sense to the viewers, you do your best.

It’s a judgment about the character, and no, you can’t come into the character judging them as you’re playing them. That’s the film-maker’s job to choose the tone in which the character is seen.

As an actor, one’s job is to be the character and deliver it perfectly.

You want to be honest with a character and play it truthfully, and you want to be genuine with your character.

I like to study each character that I'm playing and spend time with it. I want to understand her mental strengths, her weaknesses, what triggers her and what makes her happy. To be able to get into the skin of the character, It's so important to feel like her. Studying cinema that has touched upon the subject, multiple readings and exploring the layers, is an important part of the process.

My goal as an actor is always to be as truthful as possible, and to find the truth in the material I am representing. So I think that it’s the same with performing music. But in a way, performing your own music, it’s easier to find the truth in it, because it’s coming from yourself. There’s no translation needed.

People often say that an actor 'plays' a character well, but that's an amateurish notion. Developing a characterization is not merely a matter of putting on makeup and a costume and stuffing Kleenex in your mouth. That's what actors used to do, and then called it a characterization. In acting everything comes out of what you are, or some aspect of who you are.

Acting requires you to connect with real emotions. If that character is sad or depressed, you tend to feel these things.

If you are given a role to play, think of what you will be portraying to the public and the impression people will have about you as a person because not everybody will know that what you play is not who or what you are.

You know, I used to think that immersing myself into a full day of emotions would help me get into character. But it didn’t really work for me and I’d be extremely drained by the time I got on set. I think being authentic in your acting, enjoying the moment and believing your character’s story is very important.

For acting, the best way to be in character is to embody and become the character in the best way possible.

You have to read about the act, you have to be into the character. You have to work hard, you have to investigate.

I try not to judge characters. You really have to just be inside it, seeing it from their point of view

Coming from that place of knowing you are here for a purpose; you're here for a reason; that nobody is on this planet by accident... If you have that as your armor, you can show up as a performer and then see what you bring to the room. That's a good place to be in. I also tell people that it's really important to have the desire to perform, but also the willingness to do the work. What I mean by work, as any aspiring musical theatre kid knows, is singing all the time; taking dance and acting classes; doing monologues by yourself in your room etc. Whatever it is, do the work and do the necessary self-work too. Get therapy if you need therapy! I love therapy. It's so helpful to go. As actors, we portray so many different kinds of human being, so don't you also want to explore your own healing and better understand the human condition?
