Power is influence over external events.

Peace is influence over internal events.

I would like people to recognize in looking at my story that the person who has the most to do with what happens to you is you. It's not the environment, it's not the other people who were there trying to help you or trying to stop you. It's what you decide to do and how much effort you put behind it.

Whether you flounder or flourish is always in your hands — you are the single biggest influence in your life. Your journey begins with a choice to get up, step out, and live fully.

You cannot always control what happens to you, but you can control what happens in you.

You have to be determined within yourself.

It is within you to carve out your future and create your own destiny.

People may do things that can trigger certain emotion, but the processing, decision-making and power lies within you. You have more power than you may sometimes realise.

The destiny of every human being is decided by what goes on inside his skull when confronted by what goes on outside his skull.

It's not what's happening to you now or what's happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it's your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you're going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.

It is not what happens to you in life that makes the difference. It is how you react to each circumstance you encounter that determines the result. Every human being in the same situation has the possibilities of choosing how he will react -either positively or negatively.

Your freedom will be determined by whether you allow what I think and say about you to matter more than what anyone else thinks or says,

What happens in ordinary moments determines your future.

While we may not be able to control all that happens to us, we can control what happens inside us.
