Far worse than an error is *unconscious* plagiarism: you may repeat something not realizing someone else said it.

Once you detect that one of your passages or aphorisms resembles someone else's, you MUST signal it (footnote), even if you came up with it independently.

Most are too embarrassed to do so.

Curiosity is antifragile, like an addiction, and is magnified by attempts to satisfy it — books have a secret mission and ability to multiply, as everyone who has wall-to-wall bookshelves knows well.
