I think that everybody should be in the business of improving opportunities for women and girls. We need women and girls to succeed because that’s how we build stronger, more resilient communities. It’s how we grow a stronger economy. Encouraging the full participation of women and girls in public life and in the business world leads to better decision making all around. ... It’s not just about women’s issues, it’s about everyone’s issues. We know that if kids grow up in an equal world, it is a better world — more open, more prosperous, and more peaceful.

We can only achieve sustainable and inclusive growth through giving women an equal opportunity to play an active role in the economic, social and political sphere.

If the world acts together, we can make sure that all of our children enjoy lives of opportunity and dignity.

To empower women, we should ensure that all young girls receive their education. The benefits of this education will trickle down not only to their families but nationwide as well.

Each person is born with very individual qualities and potential. We as a society owe it to women to create a truly supportive environment in which they too can grow and move forward.

As women, we need to continue to rise in our capacity as leaders in civil society, private sector, public sector and other spheres-to look at how we can help each other thrive in environments where we grow, where we are supported and protected.

We must all work together to strengthen the safety net that women need not only for healthy pregnancies, but also as they build families where both they and their children thrive

You know, we're in a sports center. Imagine if you have a team and you don't let half of the team play. That's stupid. That makes no sense. And the evidence shows that communities that give their daughters the same opportunities as their sons, they are more peaceful, they are more prosperous, they develop faster, they are more likely to succeed. [...] And that's why one of the most successful development policies you can pursue is giving girls and education, and removing the obstacles that stand between them and their dreams. And by the way, if you educate girls -- they grow up to be moms -- and they, because they’re educated, are more likely to produce educated children.

In order to encourage more women participation in leadership and government, the world should give them the support they require and create space for them.

We recognised that for women to be really empowered for development, we needed to make them economically active

We must move in these spaces to encourage increased support to young women and girls not simply because it is ‘smart economics’ but because gender equality is a right
