I wanted to learn Go, so I paid a go school and started to attend classes once a week with a pro. He was mean, and never let the students win the teaching games. This was frustrating to me, because I was thinking "Why am I paying to lose all the time?" I wished that I had a guardian angel or a ghost that could help me beat him really bad. It was at that moment that Hikaru no Go was born.
I knew right away I would have lots of fun playing a passionate, devoted district-attorney committed to fight for the good but dealing all along with family problems, ex-husband, personal life, love and much more... That was like playing two parts in one, as many people in real life, my character was definitely not the same in private than in her professional life.
(When asked about gaming) I have a few favorites: Stand-up arcade game - 720 degrees, RTS - Command & Conquer & Star Wars Empire at War, FPS - Unreal Tournament 2004. As far as RPGs, I prefer good old D&D on paper for that. The game industry is as strong as the music and film industry now, and crosses over into both as well. I still play all the games I just mentioned every now and again. I find it intriguing that retro-gaming has come back in a big way. All the old arcade games from the 80s seem to have found their way back in the form of built in joysticks that plug into TVs. Xbox360 has live arcade downloads, the Wii has classic Nintendo and Turbo Graphix downloads, it's very interesting. I think people are recognizing once again that simple short fun experiences are just as good as having long huge production experiences. Theres something out there for everyone, and gaming is as much for adults as it is for kids. I love variety in gaming. For a good while there was too much of the same types of games year after year, and it feels like we're seeing more creativity again, which is a good thing.

I like to study each character that I'm playing and spend time with it. I want to understand her mental strengths, her weaknesses, what triggers her and what makes her happy. To be able to get into the skin of the character, It's so important to feel like her. Studying cinema that has touched upon the subject, multiple readings and exploring the layers, is an important part of the process.
It was film that was the key inspiration, but from games the most fun I personally had, aside from pure racing and arcade-style games, was the great early side-scrollers like Prince of Persia, Out of This World and Flashback. I loved those games, but most importantly those games made me feel like I was controlling a lifeform more than a piece of art in some challenge contest.
I have played many characters, both in and out of makeup, but I was always one of those kids who rooted for the monster! Seriously, who is having the most fun in the horror movies? The screaming pretty girl or the monster chasing her through the fog? I get to have such a blast being the scariest thing in the room! Playing all strange manner of monsters and creatures chasing, slithering, and at times, flying through crazy adventures chasing some new damsel in distress, often to her doom! What can I say, some girls dream of being princesses in castles, I dreamed of being the dragon on the tower or the monster under the bed…and sometimes even a pixie in Neverland. Playing them is not easy work – the hours are long, it’s physically and mentally demanding, you can’t be claustrophobic in any way, and I’ve been buried alive and almost drowned more times than I’d like to admit, but it is a most wonderful, creative, challenging, exciting occupation and I really love what I do and what I create.
