Most people's lives are run by desire and fear. Desire is the need to add something to yourself in order to be yourself more fully. All fear is the fear of losing something, and thereby become diminished and be less. These two movements obscure the fact that being cannot be given or taken away. Being in its fullness is already within you, now. (Ch 5)

Nearly everyone in the world has appetites and impulses, trigger emotions, islands of selfishness, lusts just beneath the surface.

Emotions are triggered by what we like to call emotionally competent stimuli, that is, objects or situations that can be real, like in front of you, or be in your mind when you think and you recall, and they act on brain devices that were designed by evolution.

Emotion arise from Desire, hence an Illusion.

THE ESSENCE OF YOUR DESIRE IS A FEELING

Desire urges me on, while fear bridals me.

Every action, thought, and feeling is motivated by an intention, and that intention is a cause that exists as one with an effect.

Every thing you want, is on the other side of fear.

when we love something, emotion often drives our actions.

Emotions drive behavior. Every decision is an emotional decision at some level. Whatever your logical reasons are for taking action, you only feel compelled to act on them because of emotion. In fact, people with damage to emotional centers of the brain can list many reasons for taking action but still will not act because they do not have emotions to drive them. This is why craving comes before response. The feeling comes first, and then the behavior.

Everything you do, see, and feel is a reflection of not who you are, but how you are. You create what you believe. You see what you want. You’ll have what you give.

Desire is created when something happens in your life that suddenly changes the way you see yourself in relationship to your future.

All movement, of every creature, comes from the desire after something better.
