I believe I can make an impact and influence change in the lives of the downtrodden, and help ameliorate the sufferings of the needy in the State, not because that I want to enrich myself through political process.

If I don’t sound like a typical Washington politician, it’s because I’m NOT a politician. If I don’t always play by the rules of the Washington Establishment, it’s because I was elected to fight for YOU, harder than anyone ever has before.

To me, to be political means you associate your work with a larger number of people’s living conditions, and that includes both mental and physical conditions. And you try to use your work to affect the situation.

I'm a frustrated patriot. I'm not a politician. I'm not savvy with radio and TV. But I believe I can make a change, and that's what I'm here for. I'm here to give people a third choice.

I'm not running for president to be somebody, but to do something; to do the hard but necessary things not the easy and needless things.

I joined politics because somebody has got to do it, if you feel you have a reason and you think you can contribute to your community then do it. I thought I could contribute to my community and that’s the only way I can create an impact.

The reason I am political is because I want there to be a juster apportionment of the world's pleasure and less unjust apportionment of the world's pain. Power per se is fairly uninteresting to me, except as I observe it distorting peoples' characters.

One of the reasons why I can come across as difficult even to some left-wing voters is that I always engage in politics, even during election campaigns.

It never occurred to me when I was 10 years old that I was going to end up representing an entire—not just community, but nationality. That’s not something I ever thought of, because I wasn’t a political person then. But I was forced to become one because of the circumstances. At some point, I discovered that a lot of people were suffering unnecessarily. I really started to understand that everyone has a responsibility to others and to a community, that you are not the only person in the world you simply represent, whether you like it or not.

I have to be true to that - I can't take certain things away. I do have a political background. I’m only in England, learning this language and building a life in this society, because of political reasons. Why would I deny that?

I think if you know my background so I think in my family most of the people came from politicians, like my Dad, my sister, my brother, so in terms of understanding politics, I think – I believe I’ve had that since I was young. The only thing is that I never joined politics officially, but I think I understand. And I think right now, the country needs people to manage and to deliver policies to enhance the wealth of the country. So I think at this time the country needs that skill.

If you do politics the right way, I believe, you can actually make people's lives better. And integrity is the minimum ante to get into the game.

Politics affect lives and we all have to be politicians. You can be the one being voted for or the one voting for or the one volunteering in someone's campaign or helping to raise money or donating or giving governance or making demands.
