"All major decisions come from political parties, and women still have to play their part in that they must show themselves to be good activists in these parties. They must also take advantage of this opportunity to increase their political knowledge and try to fight on the ground to deserve the attention of leaders

(How do you advise women who want to be part of the system making changes in present-day Israel? What can you say to women who want to enter politics?) YD: They have to work within the party system — every party — and on the national level with other parties. It cannot be only an effort within the party. The power of women has to be expressed by sheer numbers. It must be mobilization — whether it’s academic or grassroots.

We are bringing women into politics to change the nature of politics, to change the vision, to change the institutions. Women are not wedded to the policies of the past. We didn't craft them. They didn't let us.

Our political parties are not creating enough forums for women to understand who they are. I am trying to say women are watching every political party in South Sudan.

In those days, they played politics with love, now it is money and power. That does not mean women cannot be better politicians; they should do it with honesty. For instance, the likes of my mother and Madam Funmilayo Ransome Kuti used the opportunity they had to help a lot of people; but now, we can’t get close to them. You must know what you want to do before going into politics. Our men should stop holding meetings late at nights. In other parts of the world, no political meetings at night. Going into politics does not mean there shouldn’t be time for the family. Many women are brilliant and will deliver if given the opportunity.

The truth is that politics is tough terrain, but it takes a clear vision, proper planning and execution of plans, commitment, hard work and consistency to succeed. Despite the many challenges, women should not allow themselves to be left out of the process.

Among other things. I believe that women often have to invest more in parties than men because they are in the minority. That scares you again. Many social groups are not involved in politics because they simply cannot afford to invest so much time. Personally, I don't have the impression that I had to give up much for political work, but that I actually gained a lot from the opportunity to do politics. Basically, in the political world, both women and men have to be able to endure a lot, for example being hostile for the positions they represent.

Sometimes when women come out, others think they should not be in politics. They prefer to vote for their male counterparts rather than to vote for a fellow woman. But I think whatever the challenge is, women who are interested in politics should summon the courage to venture into it fully.

Women in politics are still women. We can laugh and be joyful and still be in politics. We do not want to be like men, we want to be ourselves and still engage effectively in politics

As a country, we need to confront this issue and find ways to address it. Women need to be active participants in political spaces, but in our culture, politics is often seen as a ‘dirty game,’ and many prefer to avoid it to maintain their integrity.

I’m a politician. I detest the word because of the connotation that cling like slime to it. But for want of a better term, I must use it. I have been in politics for twenty years and in that time, I’ve learned a few things about the role of women in politics. The major thing that I have learned is that women are the backbone of America’s political organizations: they are the letter writers, the envelope stuffers, they are the speech writers and the largest numbers of potential voters. Yet, they are but rarely the standard bearers or elected officials.

Women should participate in politics. Perhaps some women face resistance from their husbands but that should not happen because women can as well articulate ideas as much as men

Women have a new interest in political issues. Of course, women are a little concerned about their new powers. We don’t want to seem aggressive or in competition with men. We want acceptance from men.

if women who are Republicans simply help the Republican Party, and if women who are Democrats help the Democratic Party, women’s votes will not count for much. But if the political Parties see before them a group of independent women voters who are standing together to use their vote to promote Suffrage, it will make Suffrage an issue — the women voters at once become a group which counts; whose votes are wanted.
