It takes great courage to see the world in all its tainted glory, and still to love it. And even more courage to see it in the one you love

In the face of impermanence and death, it takes courage to love the things of this world and to believe that praising them is our noblest calling.

To look at something as though we had never seen it before requires great courage.

This life takes a lot more courage than I ever gave it credit for. When I was growing up around here I was always fantasizing heroic shit without realizing that what was shaping up was going to be the greatest heroic adventure of them all: trying to live and be a decent human being. That shit takes more courage than I ever had.

In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.

Courage is hard, and hard to sustain. But we see it everywhere, steady in the face of war and injustice, sickness and loss, in stories of perseverance for a greater purpose.

Creativity takes courage.

It is not a terrible thing to love the world, knowing that the world is always passing and irrecoverable, to be known only in loss. To love anything good, at any cost, is a bargain.

It is a world to see.

The greatest magic you have is the courage you go digging for, when your world falls apart, the light you still hold, when everything has grown dark.

I had already seen more of the world, its beauty and misery and sheer surprise, than they could hope or fear to perceive.

Because of a great love, one is courageous.

Go forth into the busy world and love it. Interest yourself in its life, mingle kindly with its joys and sorrows.

It is in great dangers that we see great courage.
