So all life is a great chain, the nature of which is known whenever we are shown a link of it.

For this purpose it is necessary to keep in sharp focus a fact of which often we are not aware: we are at all times a connecting link, one of many links, in a chain reaction of related events. Each of us is the product of many chains: the evolutionary chain, the racial chain, the genetic chain, the environmental chain, and many others. The immense mass of events of which we are alternately the cause and the effect surpasses the human imagination.

We are all related, woven together in webs of reciprocal connection, where what happens to one happens to all.

With the religionists at one end of the Movement and the atheists at the other, total agreement can still be reached on this one point: the chain. Whether beginning with evolution or some kind of divine creation, the chain represents the endless journey of the generations of the White Man through the countless centuries of time. And we are all out to see that the chain remains unbroken Like the earth and the universe itself, it is eternal and, if anything is sacred, this certainly is. It's referred to as a chain because at any given point in time, that particular generation is a link with certain obligation and duty to both past and future. Behind us we can see the chain stretching backward into infinity and, ahead of us, forward toward and even greater infinity. We may well be living in a terrible time, terrible for us, but it only means that the responsibility and the care for the chain that we are now charged with is at its most critical point, perhaps more so than at any other time... THERE is all the identity, purpose meaning, and birthright (as well as duty) that anyone could ever hope for. And it is quite real, not "pie in the sky" or some abstract form of moralistic dogma.

You show the world as a complete, unbroken chain, an eternal chain, linked together by cause and effect.

We forge the chains we wear in life.

I would say that there exist a thousand unbreakable links between each of us and everything else, and that our dignity and our chances are one. The farthest star and the mud at our feet are a family; and there is no decency or sense in honoring one thing, or a few things, and then closing the list. The pine tree, the leopard, the Platte River, and ourselves - we are at risk together, or we are on our way to a sustainable world together. We are each other's destiny.

If we could only just see our lives as links in the chain of life, and see as our first responsibility to get that next link in the chain safely to the future

All paths lie together like a web endlessly woven, and yours and mine are no greater or less than the beetle’s or the mouse’s. All are held together.

We are all woven together in the great web of humanity, and whatever we can do to benefit and uplift others will reflect in blessing upon ourselves.
