When in problem, or in doubt, run in cirles, scream and shout

Whenever we hear disaster, everybody runs there. They don't check whether they are having a shoe as they are running there, they are just running there to protect or to see what has happened

Much earlier in this century an Austrian journalist, Karl Kraus, pointed out that if you actually perceived the true reality behind the news you would run, screaming, into the streets. I have run screaming into the streets dozens of times but have always managed to return home in time for dinner-and usually an hour early so that I can help in the preparation.

When you turn your back on someone, they come running after you.

Run towards the roar,’ the old people used to tell the young ones. When faced with great danger and when people panic and seek a false sense of safety, run towards the roaring and go where you fear to go. For only in facing your fears can you find some safety and a way through. When the world rattles and the end seems near, go towards the roar.

The East will be seen to rush to the West and the South to the North in confusion round and about the universe, with great noise and trembling or fury.

Listen — I want to run all my life, screaming at the top of my lungs. Let all of life be an unfettered howl. Like the crowd greeting the gladiator. Don’t stop to think, don’t interrupt the scream, exhale, release life’s rapture. Everything is blooming. Everything is flying. Everything is screaming, choking on its screams. Laughter. Running. Let-down hair. That is all there is to life.

I catch fire and find the reserves of courage and assertiveness to speak up. When that happens I get quite carried away. My blood gets hot my brow wet I become unbearably and unconscionably sarcastic and bellicose I am girded for a total showdown.

Later he explained that when a person is beating you you should scream as loud as possible; maybe the whipper will become embarrassed or else some sympathetic soul might come to your rescue.

I Scream! You Scream! We all ruddy well Scream!

Sometimes a scream is better than a thesis.

When angry, count four. When very angry, swear.

I went, shouted louder and louder, tried to clear my mind so that, when necessary, I could act without thinking, act like a soldier.

I was also drunk, crazy and heavily armed at all times. People trembled and cursed when I came into a public room and started screaming in German.
