For me, how I feel about what I wrote down turns into a song.

And I sing and sing of awful things
The pleasure that my sadness brings.

I write all my own songs and they are just simple melodies with a lot of lyrics. They usually have to do with current events and what is going on in the news. You can call them topical songs, songs about the news, and then developing into more philosophical songs later.

I just don't hear anyone else making the music I'm making in my head, so I'll have to do it myself.

I think because I felt so sad I had to bring out my feelings, and try to create music that would make me and all my friends feel better.

Oh, I just sing like I hurt inside.

I sing my sorrow and paint my joy.

I've made a song for the poorly loved
And songs for everything I grieved –
For unaccompanied slave and shark,
For queens who've gone into the dark.

I write the songs first and in most cases teach myself the technique second.

I write music with my mouth — first lyrics, then song, then rhythm.

I wrote my first song when I was 7

And so, although I have no lyre, I sing:
For there is a desire, within me - a self-taught hymn

Smilingly, out of my pain, </br> I have woven a little song; </br> You may take it away with you. </br> I shall not sing it again.

I wanted just a song to sing, and there came a certain point where I couldn't sing anything. So I had to write what I wanted to sing 'cos nobody else was writing what I wanted to sing.
