Art was a palace once, things great and fair, And strong and holy , found a temple there:

It's temples and palaces did seem
Like fabrics of enchantment pil'd to heaven.

Once upon a time amidst the mountains and hills and falling streams of a fair land there was a town or thorp in a certain valley.

In a valley sweet with singing
From the hill and from the wood,
Where the green moss rills were springing,
A wondrous maiden stood.
The first lark seemed to carry
Her coming through the air ;
Not long she wont to tarry,
Though she wandered none knew where.

They reach the realms of tranquil bliss. Green spaces folded in with trees,
A paradise of pleasances.

The stately Homes of England,
How beautiful they stand!
Amidst their tall ancestral trees,
O'er all the pleasant land.

To one who has been long in city pent,
’Tis very sweet to look into the fair
And open face of heaven.

She was, as you know already without as yet knowing anything, the Lily of this valley, where she grew for heaven, filling it with the fragrance of her virtues.

I just stepped out of the dark, still forest and found myself on a rising hill. In front of me I saw a valley, surrounded by fertile hills, in which a town stood and the newly covered slate roof of the tower glowed in the evening light. Through the richly-flowered, carpeted meadow the river meandered.. .And behind the hills lay the mountains.. ..cliff after cliff rose far out into the horizon.. .Filled with soaring joy I stood there a long time and looked at the beautiful area..

I remember now how our bright spring green deepened.
With the years the seasons changed,
And we were lush as the underside of August.

The golden sun rose from the silver wave,
And with his beams enamelled every green.

Above,the fair hall-ceiling stately set Many an arch high up did lift,And angels rising and descending met With interchange of gift.

A sudden splendour seemed to kindle day
A breeze came breathing in a sweet perfume
Blown from eternal gardens, filled the room.
