The beginning of knowledge is the discovery of something we do not understand.

We have peered into a new world and have seen that it is more mysterious and more complex than we had imagined. Still more mysteries of the universe remain hidden. Their discovery awaits the adventurous scientists of the future. I like it this way.

Human beings set out to encounter other worlds, other civilizations, without having fully gotten to know their own hidden recesses, their blind alleys, well shafts, dark barricaded doors.

The actual state of our knowledge is always provisional and … there must be, beyond what is actually known, immense new regions to discover.
